A few of us already did a engine swap in a Kadett C - most of us with a 2.0 / 2.2 There are a few different options (assuming you aim for something around 2000 ccm): one option is to get an ‘old school’ CIH engine (from a Manta, Ascona, Rekord…) - these fit pretty easily, but its hard to find a 5-speed gearbox for these engines. Another option is to use a 2.0i or a 2.0 16V engine - these are newer, found in Astra’s, Calibra’s and Omega’s - probably the best way is to find a Omega so you can also use the gearbox (Omega is a RWD car ). These ‘newer’ engines need a few more modifications (you need to modify the oil sump, also the exaust manifold is on the other side of the engine head - tight!). Maybe our users @Opelpower or @papi can help you with another hint or two…
But first, you need to post a picture of your car so we will know you are not another ‘Captain from Nigeria who just won the lottery and needs to transfer the monies to his bank account in Zürich’
Welcome on our forum.
You can write in english, and probably everyone will understand you (google translate is not such a sucess when it comes to Slowenian language).
If you can please post a picture from your beast using internet servers for pictures(like shared…)
With pictures is a lot easier to see what is now under a bonet and what should be done to swap or modify engine to make more use of this expensive gasoline.
Don’t be afraid to post anything, we re all guys who love old stuff (accept girls)
